Sri. M. Gopalakrishna,
IA.S. (Retd) who joined Indian Administrative Service in 1962, served in the Government of Assam as Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate in Sibsagar District and former Mizo Hills District now in Mizoram State. He was also, Secretary, Power, Minerals and Industries; Health and Family Planning Departments and Commissioner and Secretary Home Department. He was also Chairman and Managing Director of Assam Gas Company.
In the Government of AP, he was Special Chief Secretary for Industrial Promotion, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Secretary, Major Industries, and Commissioner of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He was the Founder Managing Director of Godavari Fertilizer and Chemicals Ltd., (GFCL) from 1983 to 1990, which was built ahead of Schedule and within the estimated cost.
In the Government of India, he served as Regional Iron & Steel Controller, Hyderabad, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Steel and Mines, and Retired as CMD of Rural Electrification Corporation.
He is a Life member and former Executive Council member of IIPA, New Delhi and is presently the Chairman of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Regional Branch. His book on District Administration gives a bird’s eye view of the evolution of District Administration and proves valuable to students of Public Administration and Civil Services aspirants.
